Common questions
Before you call
Water is actively leaking — what do I do right now?
Shut off the water at the main (usually a valve at the front of the house or in the meter box at the curb), then call. If you can't find the shut-off, call anyway and we'll talk you through it.
How old is too old for a water heater?
Most tank heaters run 8–12 years. Rusty water, popping and rumbling from the tank, or moisture around the base usually means it's near the end. Tankless units go longer but need periodic descaling, especially with hard water.
Do I really need a water softener out here?
Water in this part of the Valley and East County is hard enough to scale up heaters, shorten the life of fixtures, and leave spots on everything. A softener isn't cosmetic — it protects the equipment you already paid for.
What is an automatic shut-off valve, and is it worth it?
It's a valve on your main that watches flow and closes the water by itself when it sees a pattern that looks like a leak — then alerts your phone. If you travel, own a rental, or have a second home, it can be the difference between a wet floor and a gutted house.
Can you find a leak without tearing out walls?
Usually. We isolate the system, pressure test, and narrow the location down before anything gets opened. You get told where it is and what the repair options are before a single cut is made.
